Mullein, the herb for your respiratory system.

Updated: Oct 30, 2021

Hey guys! I want to talk to you about the amazing benefits of the herb named mullein. This herb has been used for centuries to treat and heal the respiratory system and many other conditions within the human body. Mullein not only treats and heals the respiratory system but also helps heal the following: ear infections, gastrointestinal bleeding, allergies, gout, migraines, diarrhea, tonsillitis, and cleans soiled wounds. For this blog, I will focus on how mullein affects the respiratory system. During this time with Covid-19 and with the season beginning to change; there are many holistic paths we can take to make sure we are capable of living healthy, a full, happy, and active life. What are herbs? Herbs are plants with healing, fragrant or aromatic properties. When you think about herbs, think HERBS=HEALING! The great thing about herbs is that there are many ways in which you can use them! Take the time to discover all the amazing ways you can utilize herbs in your life. Here are some of the ways you can use herbs in your life:

· Potpourris and sachets

· Tinctures

· Oils

Let’s dive deeper into the herb mullein. First, let me state an important fact about mullein. Women who are pregnant or who are nursing should avoid the use of Mullein or any products that contain the Mullein herb. While using mullein, if you have any negative reactions, discontinue use immediately. Also, if you are currently taking any medication, always consult with your doctor or pharmacist before starting any herbal remedies. Mullein can heal and restore the respiratory system and can lessen the symptoms of asthma. How does mullein do this? Well mullein acts as a repairer and cleaner of the respiratory system and heals many conditions of the respiratory system such as removing mucus from the system/pneumonia, coughing, wheezing, sore throat, flu, shortness of breath, alleviate asthma by relaxing the muscles and clearing the airways in the lungs, reducing inflammation, tuberculosis, bronchitis, and tonsillitis. Mullein can heal and treat the abundance of conditions listed above due to its powerful antibacterial and antiviral properties. Mullein is one of my favorite herbs for the respiratory system! Now that we have a better understanding of how mullein heals and restores the lungs and the respiratory system, let’s cover when you should use mullein, and how long should mullein be used?

· Mullein coats the respiratory system and then expels the mucus as it relaxes your airway and muscles.

· Due to mullein's high antibacterial and antiviral properties, mullein can kill anything that does not belong within your body. Goodbye germs!!

· Mullein can be taken when you are dealing with any respiratory conditions such as asthma, colds, flu, and Covid-19. Mullein can also be taken to boost your immune/respiratory system to help prevent you from developing respiratory conditions. Some people who suffer from asthma found that using mullein consistently prevented them from having to use their inhaler and that they had less symptoms of asthma while using mullein.

· Currently there are not enough case studies to scientifically determine an appropriate range of doses for mullein. The appropriate dose of mullein will depend on many factors such as the user’s health, weight, age, and if the user is currently on medication. It is important to always talk to your doctor or pharmacist before starting an herbal remedy if you are taking medicine, and before and after surgery.

As you can see mullein is a great herb to have stored in your house for you and your family's needs. As always, I hope this information was helpful MBW's mission is to help guide individuals back into balance. Please share this blog with your family and friends; so, they too can discover the many amazing benefits of mullein!
